Phoenix International Systems, Inc., proven pioneer in state-of-the art data storage technology providing rugged and reliable COTS data storage solutions, today introduced its latest RAID controller technology for its RPC24 4004 Series Drive Magazine based, rugged storage solution. The new system was introduced at MILCOM 2013.

The Phoenix International RPC 4004 Series is available in a variety of configurations for 2.5 inch SSDs and 2.5-inch HDDs. Each RPC24 converged interface storage array includes two four-port controllers and can be easily configured in the field with eight 16Gb Fibre Channel ports, eight 10Gb iSCSI ports, or a combination of four 16Gb Fibre Channel and four 10Gb iSCSI ports. IT managers often use Fibre Channel for the storage network within the data center, and iSCSI for replication and other data management services outside of the data center. These storage arrays are fully backward-compatible with 8Gb/4Gb Fibre Channel and1Gb iSCSI networking solutions such as switches and host bus adapters. The RPC24 4004 12Gb SAS models are fully backward-compatible with 6Gb SAS investments. All 4004 models are meta-data compatible with previous generation RPC24 arrays, so that customers can accomplish data-in-place migration by simply upgrading to 4004 generation controllers.

All RPC24 4004 solutions are built on Dot Hill System’s ninth-generation RAID stack, which delivers up to 100,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) from disk, sustained sequential read performance of up to 6400 MB/second and writes of up to 5300 MB/second. The Dot Hill RAID Companion Processor (RCP) allows 4004 solutions to deliver dramatic performance gains at very aggressive price points. RPC24 4004 solutions also integrate all the performance tuning and optimizations of the previous-generation RPC24 models, which includes streaming performance optimization to handle randomized, sequential workloads. Phoenix International’s latest firmware utilizes a proprietary Adaptive Read-ahead Algorithm that analyzes workloads and fine tunes options to optimize the performance of specific kinds of demanding workloads, delivering better response. The RPC24 4004 Series scales up to 192 drives and allows customers to freely mix drive types, including HDD and SSD, for the most effective allocation of storage resources, based on capacity and performance needs.

Phoenix International’s incorporated SimulCache technology leverages redundant RAID controllers, thus eliminating the performance degradation associated with conventional cache mirroring. The implementation of a high-speed dedicated PCI-Express bus streamlines write performance resulting in superior overall system responsiveness, driving faster application throughput. Dual-redundant RAID controllers, dual power supplies and dual fans bring uptime figures to 99.999 percent availability, so customers don’t experience downtime or data loss.

Featuring a capacity of twenty four drives, the lightning fast RPC24 4004 series includes two easily removable magazines containing up to twelve solid state disk or hard disk drives, each housed in rugged 2U (3.5”) panel height, 19.5” deep enclosure. Incorporating aluminum and steel in its rugged construction, it series weighs only 51 lbs with a full complement of 24 SSDs, is less than 20” deep and is certified to military specifications MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461E.

Phoenix International has been designing and building Rugged data storage systems for any application – from Multi-Terabyte Fibre Channel RAID, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) configurations to conduction cooled plug-in VPX and VME solid state disk storage modules – since 1993.

Based in Orange, California, Phoenix International is an AS9100 Rev C/ISO 9001:2008 Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
